Here’s an interesting article from the Journal of Informatics in Health and Medicine about the information-security issues inherent with telehealth’s growth (A short summary from Becker’s Hospital Review gives the highlights). Others have highlighted the concerns about telehealth and cybersecurity as we look ahead to 2021 and post-pandemic challenges. Of course, the pandemic isn’t over yet, and COVID-19 continues to be the driving force for telehealth and healthcare providers’ efforts to innovate. For a broader look at telehealth’s promise from generalist perspective, check out this recent Economist article on digital medicine. And the Harvard Business Review offers a perspective on the pitfalls of telehealth and how to avoid them, including the mundane but very real issue of how technology (like EHR) has transformed clinicians’ workload in not-so-great ways.
